Help Our Country’s Most Vulnerable Children

Just in the U.S.A alone, over 3.6 million cases of child abuse are reported yearly (Child Protect). Unfortunately, these cases often involve several child welfare and state authorities that cannot dedicate enough time to each child. This is where CASA of Sangamon County volunteers step up to help! At CASA of Sangamon County, our volunteers are here to be consistent and positive adult figures in the lives of abused and neglected children. Help our country’s most vulnerable children by becoming a court-appointed advocate with our Springfield, IL team.

Children of Abuse and/or Neglect & How CASA Helps

CASA of Sangamon County provides court-appointed volunteers who advocate for abused and/or neglected children. Our trained volunteers are dedicated to looking out for a child’s best interest through follow-up meetings, monthly check-ins, and being consistently present for each permanency court hearing. This consistency ensures the safety and care of a child in the foster system and has been proven to increase the positive effects on the child as they age. In addition, our CASA advocates will stay with each child for the entirety of their case while aiding judges in making the right decision for their placement based on information gathered by our team. The Impact CASA Has on Children In Need

Did you know that more than 400,000 children are in the foster care system on any given day? In Sangamon County, located near Springfield, IL, thousands of children are placed in child welfare systems due to abuse and/or neglect in their households. At CASA of Sangamon County, we are determined to decrease the impact this abuse and/or neglect has on these children by offering court-appointment advocates that help them throughout the entirety of their juvenile court case.

Due to inconsistency in the adults representing these juvenile cases, an average child can spend more than a year in foster care. CASA volunteers are the consistency the child and judge need to achieve the best outcome. Our advocates dedicate their time to each child they represent for the entire duration of a case to ensure they end up in a loving, safe home. This impacts a child greatly and has been proven to give children more opportunities to succeed than those without a CASA advocate. Contact us today at 217.522.2241 to learn more about how to become a CASA volunteer.
